I light up at the deep connection I have with the sea and the awe I feel when I find the perfect treasure while walking along the sand. I light up at the delight that generations of my family have felt when they do the same. It is part of me and part of them.

So often people walk along the coast in awe of the vast ocean, the whales, the birds and the feeling of salt on their skin. I encourage you to really look at the shapes of the trees on these pathways, the strength it requires for them to stay upright in unwavering coastal wind.

There has been a collective disconnection where environmental degradation and emotional neglect have become part of the background noise we choose to ignore.

I express my sadness and call for a shift towards living harmoniously with nature, cherishing and protecting her in all her brilliance.

Each day, nature offers herself — freely, openly, without pretense.

If we look closer, we see the reflection of humanity in the delicate structures of leaves, the curve of a branch, the new growth.
